Just had a very similar thought reading this article on CNN.com. Reporters are getting lazy, and getting "quotes" by typing into a search box in Twitter is a lot easier than finding live humans to talk to. I'm all for using Twitter as part of the "customer reaction"- but certainly not for all of it. Lazy journalism is getting worse.

http://money.cnn.com/2009/12/24/news/companies/fox_time_warner_cable/index.htm
